27th September saw both Adderbury Morris teams out in force for the
unveiling ceremony of a blue plaque to commemorate the work of Janet
Heatley
Blunt as a collector of local traditonal music song and particularly
the Adderbury Morris traditon. There was a terrific turn out of
both locals and a series of invited guests: Malcolm Taylor OBE,
Librarian of the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library
was there to unveil the plaque. We also heard from Bryan Sheppard
(read all about it here) one of the two founders of the revival
morris , Edd Frost squire of Adderbury Village Morris Men and Dr Kate
Tiller deputy lieutenant and chairperson of the Oxfordshire Blue Plaque
board. Brian Tasker, Squire of the Morris Ring and Trefor Owen,
President of the Morris Federation were also in attendance.
Before
the speech making both teams danced turn and turn about including in
the programme two back to back performances of Sweet Jenny Jones - just
to show how different we are. later on there was tea and more
importantly Hook Norton available in the garden and we danced the
latest addition to our repertoire: Le Halle Place and finished off with
a mass Shepherds Away,
